HELP US ADVOCATE FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM IN AS LITTLE AS 5-10 MINUTES

Here at Advocate VA we have been working hard to fight for ongoing and progressive justice reform in the State of Virginia. We have been connecting with Delegates, and have been actively seeking delegate patronage of an amendment Bill to assist those convicted of felony Robbery, which would be made possible by assigning individual section codes to the newly defined Classes of felony robbery being 3, 5, and 6; BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Please take 5 to 10 minutes to help us advocate for this amendment. A great many voices can enact great change. We are asking you to help us be a voice for incarcerated individuals.

Even if your loved one is not serving time for felony robbery, helping advocate for this amendment is just the beginning of further and more progressive criminal justice reform in the State of Virginia. Bill amendments such as this can open additional doors to enacting incredible change for all those serving time. Much needed changes to the system cannot occur unless people stand together in unison showing strength and solidarity in numbers. Opening the door to amendments and new bills through advocation and a desire to see progressive Criminal Justice Reform goes further than any one individual legislative item. It creates an atmosphere and urgency for change, which begins to effect the entire system. Helping advocate where you can, regardless of your loved one's conviction, produces an environment for further reform that will be beneficial to all. So we ask you, if you are tired of the outdated practices and policy that is impacting your incarcerated loved ones, can you spare 5 minutes of your day to help us bring much needed change to the flawed system in the State of Virginia?

So how can you help? Help us contact Delegates directly by calling their offices. This is a main priority. Delegate offices track and record subject matter of received phone calls from their constituents. Start at the top and work your way down the list, see our original BLOG POST for phone numbers and a sample dialogue. To contact the first 2-3 delegates should only take about 5-10 minutes out of your day and can truly help tip the scales!

For other ways to help, please sign our PETITION and share/advocate for signatures. Our petition is steadily climbing, the more signatures we can gain the more of an impact the petition will have. Please send in the FORM LETTER, because delegates need to hear from you too! This too is a main priority for the advocation of this issue. Sending in the form letter takes under 5 minutes, as our Advocate VA Team has supplied all of the emails to copy and paste in one go, as well as provided a standardized letter to make advocation of this issue timely and manageable for everyone!

Advocate VA seeks to bridge the sizeable gap between legislators, legislative policy and those advocating for positive social change, inmate rights and progressive criminal justice reform in the State of Virginia. We are a non-partisan advocacy grassroots movement, which through collaboration with reputable advocacy groups and the private citizenry, seek to bring attention to the continued and longstanding bias of those currently incarcerated, while proactively assisting their peers and extended families petition for urgent criminal justice reform. Our prime objective is to advocate for an intensive reevaluation of outdated policies and practices and to actively seek, and help others petition, for advance legislation, seeing to the continued and ongoing reform of Virginia's overtly harsh and punitive criminal justice system.
